McAdams is hiring a Designer III - Land Development

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creation of early-phase design layouts such as site, utility, and grading plans to support client feasibility reviews and establish foundational project designs for later stages.
  • Follow established CAD and design protocols to ensure high-quality, consistent plan deliverables across all projects.
  • Prepare complete sets of construction drawings, incorporating feedback from internal and external reviewers while maintaining accurate records.
  • Assemble detailed construction documents with standard annotations, build sequences, and technical details to ensure project completeness.
  • Collaborate on early design concepts and produce precise site layouts informed by due diligence materials to ensure design accuracy and code compliance.
  • Support the development of initial and final utility designs with a focus on efficient water and sewer system layouts.
  • Help develop preliminary and final grading plans, create 3D terrain models, and analyze earthwork volumes to support cost-effective construction.
  • Use Civil 3D software effectively to build and adjust complex alignments, profiles, surfaces, and detailed pipe networks.
  • Assist in designing stormwater drainage systems and erosion control measures that meet environmental and project-specific criteria.
  • Serve as a point of coordination, communicating clearly with internal teams to support integrated project execution.
  • Engage with regulatory agencies to respond promptly and accurately to review comments during approval cycles.
  • Work closely with project teams to follow company standards from early design through construction support phases to deliver successful outcomes.
  • Help maintain project timelines by accurately estimating the time needed for design tasks.
  • Take part in team meetings, share knowledge, and support a cooperative workplace culture that encourages professional development.
  • Guide and mentor new staff members to help them adapt and contribute effectively within the team environment.
  • Carry out additional assigned tasks as needed to support project goals.

  • Work is mainly conducted in an office environment with minimal exposure to outdoor conditions.
  • Tasks involve frequent hand movements such as typing, picking, and grasping, often in repetitive patterns.
  • Requires clear vision for computer screen use, as well as the ability to speak, hear, and remain seated for long durations.
  • Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 5 pounds, with occasional handling of items up to 30 pounds.
  • May require additional physical activities as project needs arise.
