Escape Velocity Entertainment Inc is hiring a Design Director to lead a group of designers on the studio's debut AAA title. In this role, you will be responsible for managing, mentoring, and guiding a world-class design team to realize the game vision, drive quality execution, develop effective processes, and cultivate a culture of collaboration.
What You'll Do
- Direct and guide designers in all areas of design, including systems, gameplay, and level design.
- Collaborate with other Directors, Leads, and individual contributors to ensure the game vision is realized at the highest quality.
- Lead the design team to introduce features and content to players as efficiently and quickly as possible.
- Drive decisions and critically evaluate all aspects of the game design to achieve quality while meeting deadlines.
- Directly manage design leads and serve as a mentor and leader to all designers and many others on the team.
- Work with HR, recruiting, and other managers to identify talent gaps, grow talent, set performance benchmarks, and hire industry-leading talent.
- Establish and enforce a healthy culture within system design emphasizing problem solving, collaboration, and support for the vision.
- Communicate across team structures and disciplines to ensure everyone understands the goals, designs, and progress of the design team.
What We're Looking For
- Two or more shipped titles in competitive MP / Live Service games.
- Practical design experience from competitive titles with understanding of design challenges before and after launch.
- Strong understanding of how to analyze data and address design issues in a live environment.
- Strong managerial experience including recruiting, building, and leading design teams to successful outcomes.
- Managed employees through difficult challenges and grown direct reports.
- Mentored others on large, cross-discipline teams.
- Deep professional understanding of the gameplay, systems, features, and level design found in contemporary AAA shooters and MOBAs.
- Keen knowledge of how game features and systems work collectively.
- Exceptional communication skills in both verbal and written formats.
