As a Database Reliability Engineer, you will be responsible for the stability, scalability, and security of database systems that power global operations. You'll work closely with DevOps and development teams to ensure data infrastructure meets the demands of continuous growth and high availability.
What You'll Do
- Design, deploy, and manage resilient database architectures across multiple regions and platforms
- Optimize performance through query tuning, indexing strategies, and capacity planning
- Build automation tools in Go or Python to reduce manual effort and improve operational reliability
- Monitor system health using observability platforms, setting precise alerts based on SLO burn rates
- Lead disaster recovery planning, including point-in-time recovery, cross-region replication, and backup validation
- Support schema changes, data migrations, and production deployments with minimal downtime
- Partner with developers to guide database design, indexing, and efficient query patterns
- Enforce security standards through regular audits, access controls, and encryption practices
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years managing production-grade MySQL and MongoDB environments
- Proven experience with large-scale database systems and high availability architectures
- Strong grasp of SLI, SLO, and SLA principles applied to database services
- Hands-on experience with automation and scripting in Go or Python
- Deep knowledge of cloud database platforms, including Aurora (MySQL and PostgreSQL), MongoDB Atlas, and DocumentDB
- Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
- Experience with monitoring ecosystems like Prometheus, Grafana, and Loki
- Understanding of Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, and configuration management tools
