This position involves maintaining and enhancing the reliability of a distributed database platform through proactive monitoring, incident response, automation, and deep technical troubleshooting to ensure consistent uptime and performance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor database system health and respond to operational alerts
- Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks in production environments
- Develop automation tools to streamline database operations
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve system resilience
- Perform root cause analysis for critical incidents
- Design and implement backup and recovery procedures
- Optimize query performance and resource utilization
- Maintain high availability and disaster recovery configurations
- Contribute to capacity planning and scaling strategies
- Document operational procedures and system configurations
- Evaluate and integrate new database features and versions
- Support deployment of database updates with minimal downtime
- Enforce security and compliance standards across data systems
- Troubleshoot replication and cluster synchronization issues
- Improve observability through metrics, logging, and tracing
Nice to Have
- Direct experience with ClickHouse or similar analytical databases
- Contributions to open-source database or infrastructure projects
- Experience operating large-scale data platforms in production
- Knowledge of network protocols and latency optimization
- Exposure to cloud infrastructure providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure
- Understanding of consensus algorithms and fault tolerance
- Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible or Puppet
- Familiarity with security auditing and access control mechanisms
- Background in site reliability or database administration roles
