What You'll Do
Own the scalability and stability of large-scale MySQL deployments used across our core services. You'll work directly on improving system reliability, automating operational tasks, and refining database workflows to reduce manual intervention.
Develop and maintain tooling to streamline database management, leveraging scripting and configuration tools to enhance platform efficiency. You'll diagnose performance bottlenecks across the stack—from storage and OS to networking—and implement effective solutions.
Lead version upgrades and patching across the database fleet, ensuring minimal disruption while maintaining security and compliance. Collaborate with engineering teams to share insights and improve cross-platform database usage.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years managing production-grade, highly available database systems
- Proficiency in MySQL and ProxySQL with hands-on experience in Linux environments
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet
- Strong scripting ability to build and maintain automation frameworks
- Familiarity with observability platforms including Prometheus, Grafana, Loki, PMM, or Icinga
- Solid understanding of server hardware, storage, networking, and OS tuning as they relate to database performance
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis and long-term fixes
- Ability and eagerness to learn quickly and share knowledge across teams
