Thesis Inc. is hiring a Mid-level Data Engineer for the Mezo engineering team. You will help expand our in-house data capabilities and design high-volume, high-integrity pipelines for Bitcoin finance.
What You'll Do
- Architect complex, real-time data pipelines, designing and optimizing ETL processes for large on and off-chain data sets.
- Ensure low-latency ingestion and processing of time-sensitive data, proactively optimizing systems.
- Contribute to complex data architectures, troubleshooting and ensuring data availability, reliability, and security.
- Work with Data Science to write and review Python scripts for data ingestion, transformation, and automation.
- Implement and manage data workflows using Cloud Composer and Github Actions for orchestration.
- Build and maintain high-performance data warehouse schemas with Google BigQuery and DBT.
- Build data validation, reconciliation, and monitoring systems meeting financial services standards.
- Explore new approaches to indexing and querying data from Bitcoin, Ethereum, L2s, and DeFi protocols.
- Partner with product, engineering, and data science to deliver datasets that power lending models and product launches.
What We're Looking For
- 3–6 years in a data engineering role.
- At least some experience in DeFi, fintech, or a related field.
- Extensive experience with Python and SQL.
- Experience with data warehousing solutions like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
- Strong understanding of Google Tag Manager.
- Expertise with orchestration tooling like Fivetran or Airflow.
- Expertise with data transformation tools like dbt.
- Expertise with git/Github.
- Comprehensive understanding of Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud SQL, Cloud Functions, and BigQuery.
- Familiarity with data governance and compliance standards.
- Hands-on experience with blockchain or crypto data, including tools like Dune or Goldsky.
- Knowledge of standard ETL patterns, modern data warehousing ideas, and data quality practices.
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of real-time data processing and event-driven tracking with analytics.js and/or Segment.
- Familiarity with data observability tools and anomaly detection for production systems.
- Understanding of financial data governance, reconciliation, and compliance needs.
- Experience with on-chain indexing, blockchain ETL, or real-time risk/credit models.
- Exposure to data visualization platforms such as Looker Studio, Hex, or Mixpanel.
- Prior experience as a data analyst or scientist.
