Role Overview
You will play a key role in designing and managing data systems used by teams across the organization. Your work will directly support the development and reliability of data-driven applications that contribute to expanding internet access nationwide.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and test data processing solutions that meet organizational needs and quality benchmarks
- Maintain and modernize existing codebases, including legacy systems, through refactoring and performance improvements
- Monitor live environments, troubleshoot issues, and resolve incidents promptly
- Build and manage the production infrastructure supporting data applications
- Collaborate with internal teams to address technical inquiries and improve system usability
- Explore and validate new technologies, APIs, and data sources through proof-of-concept development
- Document systems and contribute to internal knowledge resources for ongoing support and training
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field
- At least 3 years of hands-on software engineering experience using Ruby, JavaScript, Python, or PHP
- Proven ability to build and maintain ETL pipelines and reporting tools
- Familiarity with software development best practices, including version control, CI/CD, automated testing, and collaborative coding
- Minimum of 2 years managing IT systems from deployment through maintenance
- Experience configuring and testing IT solutions in real-world environments
- Working knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly AWS services
- Comfort with Linux-based operating systems, including command-line administration on CentOS or Ubuntu
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on clear communication, especially with non-technical stakeholders
- Reliable and responsive under pressure, with a commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards
Technology Environment
You’ll work with a modern stack including Ruby, JavaScript, Python, and PHP, supported by AWS for cloud infrastructure. Development workflows are managed through GitHub, CircleCI, and AWS CodePipeline, with infrastructure defined via CloudFormation. Project tracking is handled using Trello.
