Dell Technologies is seeking a Data Center – Solutions Architecture professional to lead the design and execution of complex cabling deployments in hyperscale and GenAI environments. You will be responsible for designing standards, building best practices, and supervising partners to deliver high-quality, efficient structured and point-to-point cabling infrastructures.
What You'll Do
- Develop and validate cabling designs for large-scale data center and GenAI environments, including leaf-spine, super spine, and high-density architectures.
- Define structured and point-to-point cabling standards, selecting cable types, connector models, and conveyance methods.
- Create detailed point-to-point cable mappings to produce comprehensive cable matrices and installation plans.
- Review and validate solution design documents, including hardware BoMs, network topologies, rack elevations, floor plans, and cable tray layouts.
- Plan and oversee complex cabling programs involving 20,000+ cables across multiple topologies and installation phases.
- Coordinate and manage multiple partner teams working in 24x7 shifts to meet aggressive build timelines and quality targets.
- Oversee scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change-control processes for large-scale deployments.
- Identify, document, and communicate design or hardware gaps and drive resolution with engineering and vendor teams.
- Lead and supervise partner teams during installation of copper, fiber, and InfiniBand cabling in live data center environments.
- Publish finalized cable matrices and partner installation instructions, ensuring clarity and completeness of deployment documentation.
- Verify proper labeling, documentation, routing, and strain-relief practices throughout installation.
- Conduct onsite inspections to ensure installation quality, completeness, and compliance with standards and safety practices.
- Establish and maintain cabling standards, documentation templates, workflows, and operational best practices for hyperscale and GenAI cabling programs.
- Drive continuous improvement across design, installation, partner performance, and quality assurance processes.
- Contribute to the qualification and evaluation of new cabling partners.
- Serve as the Cabling Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Dell’s GenAI solutions and other large-scale cabling engagements.
- Provide technical presales support to the CTO organization, helping shape customer solutions and validate cabling strategies.
- Participate in customer meetings to explain design approaches, cabling requirements, deployment methodologies, and partner engagement models.
- Compile final cable Bills of Materials (BoMs), including length takeoffs, and ensure accurate translation of design intent into executable installation plans.
What We're Looking For
- Deep knowledge of copper, fiber, and InfiniBand cabling systems and large-scale deployments (10,000+ endpoints).
- Experience with inter-data hall trunking for large GPU clusters (5,000+ GPUs).
- Familiarity with cable providers: Siemens, Corning, Panduit, CommScope.
- Project leadership of complex cabling projects with multiple teams and vendors.
- Organizational and communication skills to manage 24x7 operations, including shift rotations and efficient handover.
- Ability to work closely with selected partners and lead them through cabling phases (definition, alignment, labeling, and remediation).
- Expertise in cable labeling and documentation for large environments.
- Ability to enforce standards and maintain quality under tight deadlines.
- Mobility to travel across the Americas to lead and supervise the largest cabling programs.
Nice to Have
- Experience in hyperscale or enterprise data center environments.
- Knowledge of structured cabling standards and best practices.
- PMP or equivalent project management certification.
Technical Stack
- Copper cabling
- Fiber cabling
- InfiniBand cabling
