Equinix is looking for a Data Center Critical Facilities Engineer to serve as the technical backbone for reliable operation of critical infrastructure at a modern European data center. You will be responsible for ensuring all electrical and/or mechanical systems are always available, compliant, and optimally operated.
What You'll Do
- Operate, maintain, and optimize critical electrical and/or mechanical facilities in the data center.
- Perform complex inspections, measurements, tests, and safety-relevant checks.
- Conduct expert fault diagnosis including root cause analyses and sustainable solution approaches.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute work on power distributions, UPS systems, generators, or cooling, pressure, and control circuits.
- Execute and evaluate BMS tests, alarm chains, simulations, and failover scenarios.
- Provide technical support for modernization, retrofit, and energy efficiency projects.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, and support for Level 2/3/4 technicians.
- Take responsibility for technical documentation, legal requirements, audits, and compliance.
What We're Looking For
- Completed technical training in electrical or mechanical field (e.g., electrician, mechatronics technician, plant mechanic, refrigeration/air conditioning technician).
- Several years of experience operating critical infrastructure (e.g., data center, industry, energy, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing).
- Solid knowledge of electrical and/or mechanical systems, ideally in high-availability environments.
- Safe handling of relevant regulations, standards, and safety requirements.
- Structured, responsible way of working and pronounced safety awareness.
- Willingness to take responsibility and share knowledge.
Nice to Have
- Master or technician degree desirable.

- Refrigeration and climate systems (Chiller, Free-Cooling, CRAH/CRAC)
- Sensor technology, measurement/control/regulation technology
- BMS/EMS systems
