Derex Technologies Inc is looking for a Data Analyst with Guidewire PolicyCenter expertise to join our team. In this role, you will focus on data validation, ETL support, and reporting, ensuring data quality and integrity across the PolicyCenter ecosystem.
What You'll Do
- Validate database schemas and data models supporting Guidewire PolicyCenter reporting and downstream consumption.
- Perform source-to-target validation for PolicyCenter entities to ensure correct field mappings, transformations, and business rules.
- Review and validate data dictionaries, entity relationships, and model assumptions.
- Validate SSIS extract packages and feed outputs for completeness, accuracy, and timeliness.
- Execute ETL smoke tests after code releases and configuration changes to prevent downstream data regressions.
- Collaborate with ETL developers to troubleshoot failures by identifying the break point.
- Demonstrate deep understanding of PolicyCenter table structures, key relationships, and effective-dated patterns.
- Support interpretation of policy transaction behavior in data, including New Business, Renewal, Endorsement, and Cancellation scenarios.
- Ensure accurate representation of coverages, modifiers, and risk attributes in extracts and reporting datasets.
- Assist developers and analysts by providing guidance and examples for writing optimized SQL queries.
- Help teams correctly interpret data grain to avoid double-counting and misreporting.
- Recommend indexing, filters, and query patterns to improve performance for high-volume reporting and extracts.
- Define and execute recurring data quality checks for completeness, valid values, referential integrity, and duplicates.
- Reconcile totals across layers for policy counts, transaction counts, exposures, and premium totals.
- Document findings and partner with Guidewire, config, and integration teams to resolve data defects.
- Maintain and update documentation such as table relationship guides, join paths, and common query patterns.
- Contribute to a reusable library of SQL snippets and validation checklists for the team.
What We're Looking For
- 12+ years overall IT experience with 8+ years specifically as a Data Analyst.
- 5+ years of experience working on Guidewire applications, with must-have experience on Guidewire PolicyCenter.
- Strong SQL skills, including multi-table joins, CTEs, window functions, and the ability to debug logic and performance.
- Experience validating SSIS extracts and ETL outputs, including counts, deltas, reconciliation, and error triage.
- Working knowledge of data modeling concepts such as keys, grain, dimensions/facts, and effective-dated history.
- Hands-on exposure to Guidewire PolicyCenter data and the ability to navigate PolicyCenter tables for reporting.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with downstream reporting layers like ODS, DWH, marts, and BI tools such as SSRS, Power BI, or Tableau.
- Experience creating data validation scripts and repeatable reconciliation controls.
- Understanding of Property & Casualty policy lifecycle and transaction types.
