Leidos is hiring a Cyber Operations Engineer

The Cyber Operations Engineer will provide critical cybersecurity support for the U.S. Air Force Cloud One (C1) enterprise cloud infrastructure across AWS, Azure, Oracle, and GCP at DoD Impact Levels 2–6. This role emphasizes incident response, security operations, Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance, continuous monitoring, and rapid remediation of vulnerabilities to maintain secure and authorized operations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver incident response and security operations for the USAF Cloud One environment across AWS, Azure, Oracle, and GCP at DoD IL 2–6.
  • Support ISSO/ISSM functions, ATO sustainment, continuous monitoring, vulnerability management, and compliance with DoDI 8500.01, DoDI 8510.01, AFI 17-101, DoD Cloud SRG, and NIST SP 800-53.
  • Collaborate with Government ISSOs, ISSMs, Authorizing Officials, CSSPs, and engineering teams to maintain ATO compliance and strengthen security posture.
  • Conduct operational cybersecurity, infrastructure support, and mission-critical security functions within the C1 environment.
  • Analyze intelligence to identify and correlate adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
  • Investigate cybersecurity incidents in compliance with DFARS 252.204-7012 and 252.239-7010 requirements.
  • Perform forensic analysis of networks and hosts, including intrusion detection and proactive threat hunting.
  • Conduct device discovery, OS fingerprinting, service scanning, and passive (non-intrusive) network scanning.
  • Ensure adherence to SCCA and DoD Cloud Computing Security Requirements Guide (SRG) standards.
  • Support secure configuration and hardening of AWS, Azure, Oracle, and GCP cloud platforms.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining RMF authorization documentation per DoDI 8510.01 and NIST SP 800-53.
  • Enable Continuous ATO (cATO) in DevSecOps environments through automated control validation, continuous monitoring, and real-time POA&M management.
  • Support ATO maintenance and sustainment for Cloud One and DPaaS environments.
  • Track and support remediation of Authority to Use (ATU) conditions as directed by Authorizing Officials.
  • Support security control assessments, audit readiness, and third-party cybersecurity inspections.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4–8 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree with 2–6 years of relevant experience; additional experience may substitute for degree.
  • Active Secret clearance is required to begin employment.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory.

Nice to Have

  • Experience working with USAF Cloud One or Platform 1 environments.
  • Familiarity with Zero Trust Architecture principles and implementation.
  • Hold cloud certifications in AWS, Azure, Google, or Oracle platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience in automation within cloud or cybersecurity environments.
  • Possess CISSP (IAT Level III) or equivalent certification.

Work Arrangement
