State of Colorado, Department of Revenue was looking for a CTE/Careers Teacher

The State of Colorado’s Department of Revenue is hiring a CTE/Careers Teacher to provide career readiness learning through direct classroom instruction within the Division of Youth Services. You will prepare youth for success by teaching a broad range of subjects and technical skills aligned with Career Technical Education pathways.

What You'll Do

  • Establish and maintain a classroom setting using effective management and engagement strategies, including PBIS and behavior tools.
  • Assess students using multiple methods and collect evidence of learning.
  • Prepare unit and daily lesson plans aligned with state standards and critical skills.
  • Implement research-based education strategies to accommodate multi-age and multi-level students.
  • Select and apply appropriate behavior and classroom management techniques.
  • Ensure accommodations for special education students are followed and communicate data for progress monitoring.
  • Follow the instructional framework with daily learning objectives and relevant assessments.
  • Maintain accurate educational records in required systems while meeting deadlines.
  • Substitute in other classrooms as required.
  • Use technology to design and upload lessons, take daily attendance, and grade work.
  • Meet with Central Education Office members, principal, treatment providers, and other teachers to review progress.
  • Develop comprehensive plans for subject matter implementation aligned with education goals and school development plans.
  • Participate in professional and staff safety development and apply learning.
  • Use data effectively within MTSS processes, progress monitoring, advocacy, and multidisciplinary team meetings.
  • Assist in the safety and security of the school and facility by supervising residents, tools, and materials.
  • Consistently follow policy and procedures of the Division of Youth Services and the facility.
  • Adhere to the trauma-informed culture and use frameworks like Motivational Interviewing, the Sanctuary Model, and Restorative Justice.
  • Adhere to the Code of Conduct and professional norms, including following leave policy and procedures.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in a field of study related to the work assignment.
  • Current, valid Initial or Professional Teacher license issued by the Colorado Department of Education.

Nice to Have

  • Professional work experience relevant to teaching hands-on skills and/or work readiness.
  • Program development experience.
  • Experience with programming for post-secondary and secondary youth.
  • Experience working with at-risk or adjudicated youth.
  • Proficient use of data to inform instructional practice.

Team & Environment

You will work within the Division of Youth Services Central Education Office and facility, providing professional consultation to community programs and collaborating with other state and community agencies.

This is an onsite position located in Colorado.
