Lear Corporation is looking for a Controls Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for projects from technical specification through to startup support, designing and building equipment for our global manufacturing plants. This includes working on ASRS systems, automated conveyor, pallet elevators, and build line integration.
What You'll Do
- Follow all health, safety, and environmental regulations, adhering to safety protocols like LOTO and proper use of lifts.
- Build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
- Communicate effectively across cross-functional groups.
- Own projects from initial specification through startup support.
- Design and develop all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment, and programming, applying company standards and innovative ideas.
- Write, implement, and debug PLC software.
- Provide support for existing automated equipment across our global facilities.
- Develop predictive maintenance indicators to increase reliability and reduce downtime.
- Develop contingency and disaster recovery plans.
What We're Looking For
- A Bachelor’s degree in electrical or software engineering.
- 3+ years’ experience in a controls engineering role at an automation or machine build shop.
- Expert knowledge of RSLogix5000, Studio5000, and FactoryTalk View Studio.
- Knowledge of I/O link, AB components, drive control, and Keyence cameras.
- Ability to read and create electrical drawings in AutoCAD.
- Understanding of applicable safety standards: general industry, machine guarding, robot safety, automated vehicles, and conveyor safety.
- Willingness to travel 40% of the year globally.

Work Mode
This is an onsite position located in Comstock Park, MI.
