The Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI) is looking for a Communications Intern to join the team for Fall 2025. In this role, you will help identify and tell compelling stories from SEI's research, raise the organization's global profile, and boost its impact. You'll tailor your workload to your interests, focusing on clear, plain-language writing and storytelling across digital platforms.
What You'll Do
- Write feature stories about researchers’ work for SEI.org.
- Update the website with new content using tools like WordPress.
- Draft written and visual content for social media channels.
- Support virtual events with promotion and technical tasks.
- Write and publish content to promote new publications, projects, and events.
- Draft marketing materials for SEI projects and programs.
- Provide technical support for Zoom-based remote events.
- Provide input on and execute webpage updates.
- Write and publish internal newsletters.
- Develop original video and/or graphic design content for the website and social media.
What We're Looking For
- Enrolled as a student in an undergraduate or master’s program related to communication, journalism, English, public relations, marketing, political science or another compatible field.
- Located within proximity to one of SEI's centers in Seattle, WA, Davis, CA, or Somerville, MA.
- Current resident of Washington State, California or Massachusetts.
- Strong written communication and critical thinking skills without the use of AI.
- Interest in environmental and sustainable development issues.
- Ability to manage multiple, simultaneous deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to explain complex topics in plain language.
- Working knowledge of how to use LinkedIn, Bluesky, Facebook, X and YouTube, and familiarity with their respective audiences.
Nice to Have
- Experience in graphic design or video editing/production.
- Experience using WordPress, Canva, Adobe Creative software.
- Work study preferred, but not required.
