The Communication Designer will join the HR Communications team, focusing on creating impactful, user-focused communications for internal audiences. The role applies UX and visual design principles to develop consumer-grade experiences that support business objectives and improve how associates engage with information.
Responsibilities
- Apply design expertise alongside user and business insights to co-develop creative solutions for complex challenges
- Use advanced knowledge of communication strategy, UX and visual design, messaging, and multi-channel planning to shape effective communications
- Enhance the communications function by working closely with cross-functional teams to raise standards and practices
- Employ design tools, platforms, frameworks, and systems to produce deliverables including journey maps, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, creative concepts, storyboards, graphics, illustrations, animations, and videos
- Advocate for the user throughout the design process by integrating data, research findings, scalability, technical constraints, and feedback into decisions
- Apply business and user strategies to inform design direction and outcomes
- Lead design activities in collaboration with team members and stakeholders
- Balance user needs with business objectives to achieve effective, aligned results
- Develop awareness of technological and data capabilities, including emerging technologies and their design implications
- Use technical knowledge to guide design choices, uncover opportunities, and work within technical boundaries
- Build and maintain strong relationships with partners and grow professional networks
- Engage with diverse perspectives and collaborate with informed input to drive alignment and break down organizational silos
- Present design work to varied audiences across levels and functions using a human-centered narrative
- Incorporate design methodologies, data, and research to clearly communicate insights and justify design decisions
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in UI and UX design
- Minimum of 3 years of experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma
Nice to Have
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in a UI and UX design role
- Minimum of 4 years of experience creating motion graphics or editing video
- Minimum of 4 years of experience using design and prototyping tools such as Figma
- Minimum of 4 years of experience working with cross-functional business partners
- Minimum of 4 years of experience applying an established design system

Compensation
Multiple location-based salary ranges: McLean, VA: $131,300 - $149,800; Richmond, VA: $119,400 - $136,200 for Pr. Associate, Design. Performance-based incentives may include cash bonuses and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
