About the Role
This role involves managing commercial physical damage claims from intake through resolution, conducting investigations, assessing damages, determining liability, and ensuring timely and accurate claim settlements in accordance with policy guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Review incoming commercial physical damage claims for completeness and accuracy
- Conduct investigations to determine the cause and extent of damage
- Evaluate liability based on policy terms and incident details
- Inspect damaged vehicles or property when necessary
- Obtain repair estimates from qualified vendors
- Communicate with claimants, policyholders, and third parties
- Document all claim activities and decisions in the system
- Determine coverage applicability under policy terms
- Negotiate settlements where applicable
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and internal procedures
- Maintain accurate and timely case files
- Coordinate with legal teams when litigation is involved
- Respond to inquiries from agents and brokers
- Escalate complex claims to senior staff when needed
- Use claims management software to track progress
- Apply critical thinking to resolve ambiguous situations
- Adhere to ethical standards in all claim decisions
- Support fraud detection efforts through detailed review
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions
- Meet performance metrics for quality and timeliness
- Maintain confidentiality of claim information
- Stay current with changes in insurance regulations
- Assist in process improvement initiatives
- Provide updates on claim status to stakeholders
- Follow up on open claims to prevent delays
