Chime is hiring a Cloud Support Engineer

About the Role

At Chime, we're looking for a Cloud Support Engineer to join our team supporting Upsun's cloud application platform. You'll tackle complex technical challenges and deliver exceptional support in a customer-facing, engineering-adjacent role. This position operates within a high-trust, async-first global environment.

What You'll Do

  • Resolve technical issues across infrastructure, deployments, databases, caching, and web performance.
  • Manage support tickets via Zendesk, with occasional live chat or voice support.
  • Contribute to platform reliability by monitoring alert queues and participating in an on-call rotation during working hours.
  • Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to escalate bugs, report edge cases, and improve internal tooling.
  • Improve documentation and knowledge sharing across our global support teams.
  • Troubleshoot issues related to DNS, CDN, SSL/TLS, and web infrastructure at scale.
  • Identify recurring problems and suggest improvements to systems, workflows, and documentation.

What We're Looking For

  • Linux systems experience and comfort navigating production environments in the terminal.
  • Coding or scripting ability with at least one backend language such as Go, Python, PHP, Ruby, or Node.js.
  • Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, containerized environments, or cloud platforms.
  • Understanding of networking basics and ability to debug issues with DNS, SSL, CDN, and related technologies.
  • Strong written communication skills for expressing technical ideas clearly in async global teams.
  • A problem-solving mindset with initiative and enjoyment in digging into complex issues.
  • A strong customer-centric mindset, approaching problems with empathy and considering the end-user experience.
  • Ability to work fixed hours of 00:00-08:00 UTC in the Australian region.
  • Legal authorization to work in Australia (no visa sponsorship is provided).
