Uniper is looking for a Cloud Platforms Intern to support our Cloud Engineering team based in Düsseldorf. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience by helping configure and maintain our cloud monitoring environment and by developing the observability capabilities that keep our Azure platform healthy and performant.
What You'll Do
- Support the configuration and maintenance of Azure Monitor, including Log Analytics Workspaces, Dashboards (Workbooks), Application Insights, alert rules, and Action Groups to monitor resource health and performance.
- Support the implementation of the cloud observability concept by defining and instrumenting metrics, logs, and traces across Azure services, ensuring they are consistently collected, stored, and visualized.
- Identify typical questions about cloud resources and their usage and translate them into KQL queries, dashboards, and actionable alerts or playbooks.
- Maintain clear documentation on telemetry standards, alert optimization guidelines, and troubleshooting runbooks; keep all documents up to date.
What We're Looking For
- Currently enrolled in a degree program in Computer Science, Information Management, Cloud Engineering, or a similar field at a German university.
- Basic understanding of cloud monitoring concepts and interest in working with Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Ability to translate technical findings into clear documentation or simple dashboards and queries.
- Curiosity and willingness to learn Azure monitoring tools, KQL, and observability best practices.
- Ability to work independently from a home office.
- Good English language skills, both spoken and written.
Nice to Have
- Experience with Azure services such as Azure Monitor and Log Analytics.
- Basic knowledge of monitoring or observability tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana).
- Familiarity with KQL (Kusto Query Language) for data analysis in Log Analytics.
- Availability for at least 6 months, ideally 12 months or longer.
