The Oregon Department of Human Services is hiring a Cloud Platform and Data Engineer (Information Systems Specialist 7) to provide expert consultation and implementation for cloud and hybrid information systems. This role is central to building and operating the foundational platforms required to modernize mission-critical payment and financial systems, utilizing SaaS, PaaS, and cloud-native solutions.
What You'll Do
- Provide expert-level support, architectural and testing guidance for large-scale, mission-critical computer systems.
- Design, construct, operate, and maintain infrastructure platforms to host applications including SaaS, PaaS, and COTs.
- Coordinate with organizations managing state on-prem resources to support a hybrid cloud/on-prem environment.
- Conduct comprehensive analysis, planning, development, implementation, and coordination for operations, maintenance, installation, and construction of information systems.
- Guide cloud implementations, including new systems and migrating existing systems while adhering to the agency cloud adoption framework.
- Modernize systems by understanding current people, processes, and technology and migrating to modern SaaS solutions, APIs, and standardized components.
What We're Looking For
- Six (6) years of information systems experience deploying production solutions in at least one leading cloud computing platform (Azure, GCP, or AWS).
- Six (6) years of information systems experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools and lifecycle configuration management.
- Six (6) years of information systems experience in cloud-native development, DevOps, and CI/CD.
- OR an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or two-year vocational training) plus four (4) years of the specified experience.
- OR a Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field plus two (2) years of the specified experience.
- OR a Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field may substitute for all of the above.
Nice to Have
- Proficiency in deploying solutions to cloud platforms and in hybrid cloud/on-prem environments.
- Experience in cloud application monitoring, support, and incident response.
- Understanding of cloud-native development, DevOps, CI/CD, and cloud platform administration tools for identity, cost, and resource management.
- Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure solutions including containers and VMs.
- Experience developing and supporting data pipelines.
- Experience with cloud security controls, compliance reporting, and best practices for securing cloud environments.
- Proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing cloud infrastructure solutions including data pipelines, SaaS, PaaS, databases, APIs, and CI/CD pipelines.

- Compensation range: $6,679 - $10,092 per month (non-PERS qualifying range).
