Pure Storage is hiring a Senior Cloud Architect to define and evolve the core architecture and processes of Pure Storage Cloud. In this senior individual contributor role, you will work across the control plane, data plane, and platform services, partnering closely with SRE, Platform, and Product Engineering teams to ensure the architecture supports global scale, high reliability, operational excellence, and rapid innovation.
What You'll Do
- Define and evolve the cloud-native architecture for Pure Storage Cloud services with an Azure-first mindset and a clear path to multi-cloud readiness, including highly available, regionally isolated designs, failure domains, disaster recovery, and capacity scaling.
- Own service and platform boundaries, APIs, state management, data durability, and deployment strategies (CI/CD pipelines, progressive delivery, canary and blue-green rollouts) to enable safe, frequent change at global scale.
- Establish and champion platform standards for security, identity, networking, and compliance aligned with Azure best practices; partner with SRE and feature teams on design reviews, operational readiness (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets), and incident learnings.
- Shape cloud infrastructure and the internal developer platform, including workload isolation, upgrades, multi-cluster/multi-region strategies, Infrastructure as Code, and automation patterns to improve developer velocity while maintaining reliability and cost control.
- Work cross-functionally with Product Management, Security, and customer-facing engineering to translate product requirements into scalable architectures, lead threat modeling, support complex customer escalations, and evaluate new cloud services.
- Work from the Prague office in compliance with Pure’s policies, as this is primarily an in-office environment.
What We're Looking For
- 8+ years of experience in software, platform, or infrastructure engineering.
- 4+ years designing and operating cloud-native distributed systems.
- Strong hands-on experience on at least one major public cloud (Azure strongly preferred).
- Proven track record architecting and operating production-grade SaaS platforms or cloud services at scale.
- Deep understanding of distributed systems and consistency trade-offs, high availability and disaster recovery patterns, and fault-tolerant, multi-region designs.
- Strong foundation in cloud networking, identity, and security fundamentals.
- Experience working closely with SRE / Platform / Production Engineering teams on reliability-by-design (SLIs/SLOs), observability, capacity planning, and cloud cost optimization.
- Experience with stateful services, storage systems, or data platforms; familiarity with control-plane/data-plane separation; exposure to multi-region and/or multi-cloud architectures in production.
- Clear, structured communicator able to explain complex systems to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders; a pragmatic architect with strong judgment and a bias toward simplicity.
