About the Role
The role involves planning, designing, and overseeing land development projects, including site layout, grading, stormwater management, and regulatory permitting. Engineers work closely with clients, planners, and other disciplines to deliver functional and sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Responsibilities
- Develop site plans for residential, commercial, and mixed-use projects
- Perform grading and earthwork design
- Design stormwater management systems and drainage solutions
- Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- Prepare permitting documentation for local, state, and federal agencies
- Review land use regulations and zoning requirements
- Coordinate with surveying and geotechnical teams
- Support project development from concept through construction
- Create construction drawings and technical specifications
- Manage project timelines and deliverables
- Ensure designs comply with applicable engineering standards
- Participate in client meetings and presentations
- Respond to review comments from regulatory bodies
- Perform calculations for erosion and sediment control
- Utilize civil design software such as Civil 3D
- Collaborate with landscape architects and transportation engineers
- Assist in cost estimation and budget planning
- Conduct field observations during construction
- Review contractor submittals
- Support sustainable design practices
- Maintain project documentation and records
- Identify potential design risks and propose solutions
- Stay current with industry codes and standards
- Work under the guidance of licensed professional engineers
- Contribute to quality assurance and quality control processes
