Responsibilities
- Manage regular planning and coordination cycles to maintain organizational alignment
- Convert strategic objectives into actionable tasks with assigned owners, deadlines, and accountability
- Detect operational bottlenecks and take action to resolve them
- Ensure leadership decisions are executed and followed through
- Lead cross-departmental projects that span multiple functions, such as launching new studies or rolling out tools
- Define project scope, timeline, and delivery steps from start to finish
- Collaborate with research teams to operationalize study designs
- Oversee logistics for in-person research studies, including participant recruitment and screening
- Design standardized processes to enhance study quality and efficiency over time
- Manage all aspects of people operations, including onboarding, offboarding, documentation, benefits, and hiring coordination
- Create and refine HR policies and systems to support team growth
- Determine when external expertise is needed and coordinate outsourced support
- Handle budget planning and tracking at the project level
- Liaise with external financial and legal partners, including bookkeepers and accountants
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records
- Develop scalable operational systems, including documentation, workflows, knowledge bases, and internal tools
- Apply AI and automation to minimize manual work and improve organizational efficiency

On-site — Cambridge, MA
Team
Senior generalist role; first Chief of Staff; operates across functions including strategy, operations, HR, finance, and internal systems. Reports to Executive Director

- Position is based in Cambridge, MA and requires in-person presence
- During study periods: on-site work from 9 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday
- Hybrid work options available outside of study periods
- Full-time employment
- Reports directly to the Executive Director
