Responsibilities
- Lead and manage teams focused on mine geology and ore control, including geologists, technicians, and samplers, fostering a culture of inclusion, continuous learning, and high performance.
- Supervise daily geological field activities such as mapping, sampling, and logging to accurately document rock types, structural features, alteration patterns, and mineralization for operational decision-making.
- Manage short-term ore control processes, including blasthole sampling, assay quality assurance and control using certified reference materials, blanks, and duplicates, and apply corrections for blast movement.
- Generate validated dig limits and grade control models, clearly distinguishing between mill feed (sulfide), blending material, and waste rock.
- Integrate geological, drilling, and survey data into a 3D modeling environment using Leapfrog Geo and Seequent Central or similar platforms to support dispatch and planning.
- Collaborate with mine planning engineers using Hexagon MinePlan or MineSight to provide accurate geological inputs for short-, mid-, and long-term mine scheduling.
- Maintain and validate density models and assumptions around dilution and ore loss for integration into mine plans.
- Conduct regular grade reconciliation across daily, weekly, and monthly cycles, comparing ore control data with plant results and resource models to identify and correct discrepancies.
- Oversee the design and execution of drilling programs, including infill, metallurgical, condemnation, and exploration drilling, ensuring adherence to chain-of-custody and QAQC protocols.
- Work closely with metallurgical teams to define domains that influence processing performance, including throughput, recovery, reagent use, and concentrate specifications.
- Support mine-to-mill optimization and blending strategies through accurate geological characterization.
- Direct field-based geological and structural mapping efforts, including the use of UAVs and LiDAR, to inform geotechnical and hydrogeological analyses.
- Provide structural and lithological models to support slope stability assessments and pore-pressure management.
- Evaluate opportunities for resource expansion through targeted drilling and geological interpretation.
- Plan and interpret reverse circulation and diamond drilling campaigns to advance exploration targets to decision-ready status.
- Maintain a centralized, auditable geoscience database such as acQuire, enforcing data integrity, standardized coding, and version control.
- Automate reporting and visualization using GIS and Power BI tools to deliver real-time insights.
