Moog is hiring a Chief Counsel, Intellectual Property to oversee all intellectual property matters across its global operations. You will lead the IP function and department, establishing the long-term strategic vision for Moog's global IP portfolio and its commercialization initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Establish and implement a cohesive global intellectual property strategy and governance frameworks.
• Partner with executive and senior business leaders to architect systems for the identification, evaluation, protection, and commercialization of IP assets.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of intellectual property attorneys, paralegals, and support staff.
• Direct the strategic management of Moog's worldwide portfolio of patents, copyrights, trademarks, trade secrets, and other proprietary rights.
• Develop and manage the strategic budgeting, investment, and financial resources for the global IP portfolio.
• Manage Moog's worldwide network of external intellectual property legal counsel.
• Deliver proactive IP legal guidance to business units, aligned with company goals.
• Lead the structuring and negotiation of complex technical, licensing, and development agreements.
• Ensure the proactive worldwide protection and enforcement of Moog's IP assets and direct associated litigation strategy.
• Represent Moog in key industry associations, legal forums, and working groups focused on intellectual property.
• Design and oversee standardized IP contract templates, clauses, playbooks, and training.

What We're Looking For

• Over 15 years of experience in intellectual property law, gained either as outside counsel or in-house at a large company in the aerospace and defense industries.
• Juris doctorate or equivalent degree and bar affiliation, plus registration with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
• Must live local to Buffalo, NY to work on-site, or be open to relocation.
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance if required.

• A strong leader adept at designing and implementing high-performing legal departments, navigating complex global relationships, and performing at the executive level.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels.
• Extensive negotiation experience with complex commercial and governmental transactions, including handling IP rights and resolving international IP claims.
• Strong business acumen with the objective to contribute broadly across the business.

Team & Environment

You will lead the intellectual property function and department, which includes a team of intellectual property attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. You will report directly to the SVP, General Counsel.

• Compensation: $260,000.00–$300,000.00 Annually.
