The University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture is hiring a remote Certified Procedural Coding Specialist to join our collaborative healthcare organization. You will work under supervision to read and interpret health record documentation, focusing on improving patient care and the lives of Arkansans.
What You'll Do
- Assess the adequacy of health record documentation to ensure it supports all assigned diagnoses and procedure codes.
- Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and terminology to assign accurate diagnosis and procedure codes.
- Maintain a current understanding of ICD-10 and CPT coding classification systems.
- Review and perform data charge entries to hospital and physician patient accounting systems for outpatient clinic visits.
- Organize daily work to ensure all assigned work queues are reviewed and appropriately prioritized.
What We're Looking For
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Demonstrated understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding systems.
- One of the following certifications: CCA, CCS, CPC, RHIT, or RHIA.
Nice to Have
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management.
- Two (2) years of professional coding experience.
