Nord Anglia Education is hiring a Biology Teacher for its International Day & Boarding Schools in Houston, Texas. You will deliver high-quality Biology and Pre-Med instruction, setting ambitious expectations and supporting all learners in achieving strong academic outcomes. Your role is to create a safe, respectful, and engaging learning environment that promotes intellectual curiosity, scientific inquiry, problem-solving, and mastery of biological concepts and laboratory skills.
What You'll Do
- Set ambitious expectations for all students and take responsibility for their academic progress in Biology and Pre-Med coursework.
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote scientific inquiry, laboratory investigation, problem-solving, and higher-order thinking.
- Create a safe, respectful, and stimulating classroom environment rooted in high standards of behaviour and mutual respect.
- Use assessment data to monitor learning, adjust instruction, differentiate support, and provide timely and meaningful feedback.
- Communicate regularly with parents and colleagues regarding student progress, achievement, and wellbeing.
- Participate actively in professional learning, reflect on teaching practice, and implement strategies to improve student outcomes.
- Contribute to extracurricular activities, school events, and wider Nord Anglia Education initiatives, fostering collaboration and global citizenship.
- Uphold safeguarding, inclusion, and the school’s values in all interactions.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Biology, Pre-Med, or a related scientific field.
- Teaching certification or equivalent professional training.
- Strong pedagogical understanding of Biology instruction, assessment, and differentiation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional learning and development.
- Expert knowledge of Biology and Pre-Med content and effective instructional practices.
- Ability to design coherent sequences of lessons that deepen understanding and build complex scientific thinking and analytical skills.
- Experience using formative and summative assessment to guide instruction, diagnose learning needs, and provide actionable feedback.
- Understanding of how young people develop and ability to personalize instruction based on ability, background, interests, and learning needs.
- Skill in creating and maintaining high expectations for student progress, behaviour, and classroom culture.
- High professional and ethical standards, modeling integrity and respect.
- Ability to build positive, productive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
- Flexible, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement.

Nice to Have
- Experience with IB and/or AP Biology is preferred.
