Ball Corporation is looking for a Back End Specialist Launch Team to join a team of Process experts. This role is pivotal in ensuring the successful start-up and ramp-up performance of new can making lines, with a primary focus on achieving efficiency and spoilage targets while upholding stringent safety and quality standards.

What You'll Do

  • Champion a “safety-first” culture, demonstrating safe work practices and ensuring equipment compliance.
  • Lead equipment start-up and ramp-up, providing hands-on technical support during installation, commissioning, and early production.
  • Serve as the on-site operational Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned process areas, guiding lines toward stable, high-performance operation.
  • Deliver structured training to plant teams, using a blend of on-the-job and classroom-based instruction.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting and problem resolution for mechanical, chemical, and process issues.
  • Support root cause analysis using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Validate SOPs, work instructions, and training materials for new equipment.
  • Promote food safety, sanitation, and housekeeping discipline during all start-up activities.
  • Assist with parts, tooling, and material readiness for start-up.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to transition lines from start-up to steady-state operations.
  • Capture, document, and communicate lessons learned for future builds and continuous improvement.
  • Achieve Efficiency and Spoilage targets for New Builds, New Lines, and Line Conversions.
  • Operate as part of a unified Start-Up Team, taking shared responsibility for overall success.
  • Train and develop site personnel to build sustainable process understanding and autonomous operation.
  • Provide emergency breakdown support to reduce downtime during the critical start-up phase.
  • Support size conversions, ensuring local teams are capable of executing safe, efficient changeovers.
  • Identify, share, and implement best practices to enhance future start-ups.
  • Support the implementation of BOE standards for safety, quality, business management, and maintenance.

What We're Looking For

  • A mechanical or electrical qualification.
  • A training/teaching qualification at a minimum Train The Trainer level.
  • Strong knowledge of the full can making process and subject matter expertise in at least one specific area.
  • Proven ability to transfer can making process knowledge to others.
  • Strong capability in equipment setup, troubleshooting, optimization, and supporting line performance.
  • Competent computer skills for data analysis and report writing.
  • English communication skills at a minimum communicative level.
  • An ownership mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and waste reduction.
  • Ability to mentor and develop less experienced team members.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to specifications.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with line launches or rebuild projects.

Team & Environment

You will be part of a team of Process experts within a unified Start-Up Team, working collaboratively to ensure project success.
