The Associate UX/Product Designer reports to the UX Manager and supports a scrum team in delivering high-quality user experiences for property management professionals. This role contributes to both product design delivery and annual UX team efforts, working closely with designers, researchers, and content strategists to create effective, user-centered solutions.
Responsibilities
- Learn the product domain, analyze competitors, evaluate their offerings, and identify areas for improvement.
- Understand the daily responsibilities and workflows of property managers to inform design decisions.
- Align individual contributions with the organization’s overarching vision and strategic direction.
- Grasp the long-term objectives for the assigned product area.
- Build collaborative relationships with colleagues across UX, Product Management, and Engineering.
- Understand how UX, Product, and Engineering teams work together to develop and deliver products.
- Apply core UX values and foundational UX principles in daily work and design decisions.
- Learn to communicate and present ongoing design work during one-on-ones and critique sessions by clearly framing problems, trade-offs, and open questions.
- Proactively engage with peers to collaborate and seek feedback aimed at learning and growth.
- Provide regular updates on design progress and challenges to the UX Manager.
- Begin building a professional network in UX, both within and outside the organization.
- With guidance from the UX Manager, work with teams to define and align on problem statements grounded in research insights.
- Develop an understanding of design thinking methodologies and their application.
- Work with cross-functional teams to prioritize and define the scope of design work.
- With coaching on collaborative techniques, explore multiple design concepts and refine them into the best solution through research and team input.
- Conduct appropriate UX research methods and assist in recruiting participants and scheduling research sessions.
- Ensure design deliverables are implemented and shipped as part of the product development cycle.
- Become familiar with the design system and learn to build interfaces using its components and patterns.
- Deliver user interfaces that adhere to fundamental UX best practices.
- Learn to set and meet short- and long-term goals on monthly, weekly, and daily bases.
- Understand key performance indicators for each project and ensure they reflect the intended problem and solution.
- Collaborate with fellow designers to produce high-quality design outcomes.
- Identify and focus on high-impact tasks while managing time effectively.
- Lead product design within a scrum team, contributing to discovery efforts and delivering initial designs ahead of implementation timelines.
- Dedicate time outside of scrum responsibilities to support broader UX initiatives such as improving UX processes, advancing the design system, or driving product innovation.
Requirements
- Fluent in English with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
- Minimum of one year of experience in UX or product design.
- Proficient in Figma and other standard design tools.
- Skilled in user-centered design principles and usability testing methods.
- Able to clearly present and explain design concepts, processes, and solutions to teams and stakeholders.
- Familiar with Agile Scrum practices and capable of managing design work across 2-3 concurrent projects.
- Has experience either creating or using Design Systems as both a contributor and user.
Nice to Have
- Experience working on products for small and medium-sized businesses (SMB) or B2B platforms.
