PetPlace, a subsidiary of Independence Pet Holdings, is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join our engineering team. You will support the development of our next generation of digital pet care solutions, gaining mentorship and growth opportunities in a collaborative, Agile environment.
What You'll Do
- Assist in implementing front-end and back-end features across our digital platforms.
- Work under senior developers to write clean, maintainable code.
- Help resolve bugs, perform testing, and improve application stability.
- Attend daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and planning meetings to stay aligned with team priorities.
- Actively seek feedback and opportunities to build technical and professional skills.
- Contribute to internal documentation to support development workflows and onboarding.
- Define and develop software engineering effort based on business needs.
- Generate artifacts, detailed designs, and necessary documentation to support application development.
- Share knowledge regarding design principles, implementation techniques, emerging technologies, and trends.
- Research and identify application opportunities around performance, scalability, and maintainability.
What We're Looking For
- 1 year of relevant experience.
- Familiarity with React, JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and basic backend technologies like Node.js.
- Exposure to Agile development principles.
- Understanding of version control systems such as Git.
- Strong willingness to learn, grow, and collaborate.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must meet one of the following education requirements: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience (One-year relevant experience is equivalent to one-year college), Associate’s Degree in a Technical Field, or Certification in a relevant focus area.
Nice to Have
- Internship or capstone project involving web development or API integration.
- Basic familiarity with database concepts and RESTful APIs.
- Passion for pets or experience in e-commerce.
