Constance Hospitality Management is looking for an Assistant Sommelier to join our luxury hotel team. You will be responsible for wine organization, service, and providing expert guidance to our guests, working closely with the Head Sommelier to uphold our high standards.
What You'll Do
- Plan, coordinate, and control all wine organization and activities.
- Apply and ensure application of service standards and hygiene, safety, and beverage service regulations.
- Ensure correct use and inventory of all wine service material and equipment.
- Manage wine service across different outlets with knowledge of wine, cocktails, beers, and spirits.
- Guide guests in their choice of wine and advise on aperitifs, cocktails, cigars, and digestifs.
- Work closely with the Head Sommelier to compile the wine list.
- Ensure all stock deliveries are properly documented and stored at correct temperatures to minimize wastage.
- Assist the Head Sommelier in training other staff on wine knowledge.
What We're Looking For
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in the hotel industry in a similar position including training.
- Previous experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward/Stewardess, or similar role.
- Extensive knowledge of different wines and their regions of origin.
- Ability to create tasteful food and wine pairings.
- Knowledge of wines, winemaking, and wine-tasting techniques.
- Fluency in English or another language, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Nice to Have
- Middle or Secondary Education plus additional training or certificates in the relevant field.
- Proven experience working in a top luxury restaurant or resort.
- Experience working in remote island locations.
- Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries.
- Knowledge of a second language.

Work Mode
This role is onsite at Constance Le Chaland, located on the unspoilt south-eastern coast of Mauritius.
