The Canadian Press is hiring an Assistant Photo/Visuals Editor to help maintain our photojournalism product and advance our other visual offerings. In this role, you will coordinate daily photo and digital coverage, assign staff, edit content, and help enforce newsroom priorities.
What You'll Do
- Co-ordinate daily photo coverage in consultation with the Director of News Photography and Visuals.
- Oversee triage of incoming assignments and news developments to target resources at the most important stories.
- Assign photo staff to coverage of events, features, and enterprise stories with clear expectations.
- Co-ordinate daily digital coverage, including video and social video.
- Help develop visual story ideas with editorial staff across the country.
- Co-ordinate all elements of visual content coverage including photos, video, and multimedia needs.
- Liaise with editorial staff across the country on short- and long-term coverage planning.
- Liaise with key clients on daily coverage plans and major event planning.
- Edit and create visual content each day.
- Compile weekly work schedules for staff.
- Enforce strict deadlines and encourage a workplace culture rooted in accuracy, speed, and exceptional visual content.

- Good knowledge of CP Style.
- Ability to handle a number of competing demands on deadline.
- Professional experience with different platforms, including photos, video, and multimedia.
Team & Environment
You will work in consultation with and report to the Director of News Photography and Visuals.
