About the Role
This role is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive inventory of cybersecurity-related hardware, software, and data assets, ensuring proper lifecycle management, classification, and alignment with security policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update the organization's asset inventory with accurate and current information
- Classify assets based on security sensitivity and business criticality
- Collaborate with IT and security teams to identify new assets and decommission obsolete ones
- Ensure asset records reflect ownership, location, and system dependencies
- Support compliance audits by providing verified asset data
- Track software licenses and ensure alignment with deployment records
- Assist in vulnerability assessments by providing accurate asset context
- Monitor asset lifecycle stages from acquisition to retirement
- Enforce tagging and labeling standards across physical and virtual systems
- Integrate asset data with security information and event management tools
- Identify discrepancies in asset records and initiate corrective actions
- Generate regular reports on asset inventory health and compliance status
- Participate in risk assessments using asset criticality and exposure data
- Support incident response with timely asset information
- Maintain documentation for asset management processes and workflows
- Evaluate and recommend improvements to asset tracking systems
- Ensure integration of asset data with patch management and configuration tools
- Assist in onboarding new systems by validating asset registration
- Coordinate with procurement to capture asset details at point of purchase
- Apply data governance principles to asset information handling
- Support cybersecurity certification efforts with accurate asset evidence
- Identify shadow IT through regular inventory reconciliation
- Work with network teams to validate asset connectivity and presence
- Maintain asset criticality ratings in alignment with business units
- Ensure consistent application of asset management policies across departments
