CPCD is hiring an Apprentice Teacher Assistant

About the Role

CPCD is looking for an Apprentice Teacher Assistant to join our Early Educator Apprenticeship Program, a partnership with Pikes Peak State College. This is a competency-based apprenticeship lasting at least one year (2,000 On the Job Learning hours) designed to launch your career in early childhood education. You will assist teachers in planning and implementing high-quality learning experiences and environments for children, complying with all relevant standards.

What You'll Do

  • Assist the teacher in establishing, planning, and implementing safe, healthy, high-quality learning experiences and environments that advance the development of the whole child in partnership with families.
  • Comply with all CPCD policies and procedures, Head Start Performance Standards, Colorado Department of Human Services licensing requirements, and the Colorado Quality Standards for Early Childhood Care and Education Services.
  • Implement a balance of group and individualized experiences to promote the development of school readiness skills as defined by CPCD’s School Readiness Action Plan.

What We're Looking For

  • A CDA, the Early Childhood Professional Level II credential through Colorado’s PDIS, or a plan to obtain one within two years of hire.
  • Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, and medication administration certification within 90 days of employment and maintain them as required.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and manipulate up to 40 pounds.
  • Access to reliable transportation to perform job functions, including traveling to another location during the workday if necessary.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical exam, TB test, drug test, and background check per Office of Head Start and Childcare Licensing standards.
  • Access to reliable transportation; if using a personal vehicle, you must maintain minimum liability insurance as determined by the State of Colorado.

Nice to Have

  • At least one year of successful work experience with children birth to age three and/or to age five.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Progressive wage scale: Step 1: $17.48/hr (High school diploma/equivalent & relevant experience); Step 2: $19.18/hr (Age appropriate CDA or Level II credential); Step 3: $20.15/hr (Colorado DHS Director Qualification (DQ)/ Level 3); Step 4: $21.15/hr (DQ/Level 3 and 12 credit hours in ECE); Step 5: $22.20/hr (Associate Degree in ECE or Related Field).
