Orbital Sidekick is hiring an Applied Scientist - Remote Sensing & Analytics to advance our geospatial intelligence platform. You will use satellite data and machine learning to build analytics products that deliver actionable insights for critical infrastructure and environmental monitoring.
What You'll Do
- Develop and validate remote sensing algorithms to extract features and detect anomalies from multi-spectral imagery
- Design and implement scalable machine learning models for geospatial data analysis
- Build robust data processing pipelines to transform raw satellite data into production-ready analytics
- Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy models and integrate scientific insights into customer-facing products
- Document methodologies, present findings, and contribute to technical publications
What We're Looking For
- Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in Remote Sensing, Geophysics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related quantitative field
- Proven experience developing algorithms for satellite or aerial imagery analysis
- Strong programming skills in Python for scientific computing and data analysis
- Deep understanding of machine learning and statistical methods applied to large, complex datasets
- Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, actionable results for non-expert stakeholders
