About the Role

The Boeing Company is hiring a Apache AH-64E Senior Safety Engineer to perform safety engineering and management activities supporting the Apache AH-64E aircraft and related services for the UK MOD. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting system safety analysis, developing safety arguments, and interfacing directly with engineers and customers throughout the development lifecycle.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct system safety analysis through the application of appropriate regulatory requirements, legislation, tools, and techniques.
  • Interface and liaise with systems engineers, specialty engineering functions, customers, and suppliers throughout the development lifecycle regarding safety.
  • Perform hazard analysis to define safety requirements and detailed systems analysis, demonstrating that safety requirements can be met.
  • Develop safety arguments and draft safety cases to support assurance and certification activities, including identification of appropriate evidence.
  • Identify and create evidence to support assurance of equipment and services, using safety-related activities to support the traceability of safety requirements.
  • Occasionally travel within the UK and internationally.

What We're Looking For

  • A background in safety engineering gained in a safety-critical sector or regulated environment, such as aerospace, defence, automotive, rail, or maritime.
  • Sound knowledge of common safety standards, including Def Stan 00-056, MIL-STD-882E, and ARP 4761.
  • Demonstrable experience producing safety assessment reports and other artefacts through the application of associated safety assessment techniques, such as Fault Tree Analysis and Bowtie analysis.
  • Demonstrable experience applying safety and risk engineering processes to identify hazards and vulnerabilities, assess risk, and implement controls (e.g., FHA, SSA, CCA).
  • Knowledge and experience developing safety arguments and safety cases, including the use of Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claims Argument Evidence (CAE).
  • Ability to build effective and strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to diverse audiences.
  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • The candidate must be a UK National and able to attain SC clearance.
