SearchApi is looking for an Anti-Bot Engineer obsessed with breaking through the most advanced anti-bot systems. You’ll work on the hardest technical challenges in web scraping, researching and implementing cutting-edge evasion techniques for our profitable, bootstrapped team.
What You'll Do
- Research and implement anti-bot evasion techniques.
- Reverse engineer bot detection systems to understand and then bypass them.
- Work with browser fingerprinting across canvas, WebGL, audio, fonts, and navigator properties.
- Debug TLS fingerprinting techniques like JA3 and JA4.
- Optimize Playwright and Puppeteer configurations for stealth.
- Analyze network traffic to understand detection mechanisms.
- Build internal tools for testing and validating evasion techniques.
- Stay ahead of the latest developments in bot detection.
- Document findings and share knowledge with the team.
What We're Looking For
- Deep experience with Playwright, Puppeteer, or Selenium internals.
- Understanding of browser fingerprinting techniques and how to spoof them.
- Experience bypassing at least one major anti-bot system like Cloudflare, Akamai, DataDome, or PerimeterX.
- Network traffic analysis skills with tools like Wireshark, Burp Suite, or mitmproxy.
- An obsession with evasion and a history of spending personal time bypassing protections.
- A hacker mindset; you enjoy reverse engineering and figuring out how systems work.
- Deep technical skills in browser internals, networking, and fingerprinting.
- Persistence to try new approaches when something doesn’t work.
- Great writing skills to document findings clearly.
- Self-directed; you find the next problem to solve without being assigned tasks.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- BSc or higher in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.
Nice to Have
- Specific experience with TLS fingerprinting (JA3, JA4, HTTP/2).
- Knowledge of WebRTC fingerprinting and evasion.
- Familiarity with Chromium or Firefox source code.
- Experience operating at scale, handling millions of requests.
- Contributions to open-source evasion tools.
- Familiarity with Ruby on Rails for internal tooling.
