About the Role
The candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed analysis of materials and processes using electron microscopy, spectroscopy, and other analytical techniques. This position supports product development and quality assurance by providing accurate, timely data and collaborating with engineering and manufacturing teams.
Responsibilities
- Perform materials characterization using scanning electron microscopy and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy
- Conduct chemical and structural analysis via Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction
- Support root cause investigations for product and process deviations
- Generate and interpret analytical data to guide engineering decisions
- Maintain detailed records in compliance with quality system requirements
- Collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to optimize materials performance
- Develop and validate new analytical methods as needed
- Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and coordinate repairs
- Ensure laboratory safety and regulatory compliance
- Participate in technical reviews and data presentations
- Assist in the qualification of raw materials and suppliers
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for audits
- Operate thermal analysis equipment including DSC and TGA
- Support failure analysis on electronic components and assemblies
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of analytical best practices
- Train team members on proper use of analytical tools
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Manage sample workflow and prioritization
- Ensure instrument calibration and maintenance schedules are followed
- Apply statistical methods to assess data significance
- Work with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges
- Support new product introduction with data-driven insights
- Evaluate coating and adhesive performance using mechanical and chemical tests
- Assist in environmental and reliability testing programs
- Document deviations and corrective actions

Equipment Expertise
- Extensive experience with scanning electron microscopy (SEM)
- Operational knowledge of energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS)
- Skilled in Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)
- Proficient with X-ray diffraction (XRD) systems
- Familiarity with differential scanning calorimetry (DSC)
- Experience using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA)
- Competent in operating surface profilometry tools
- Background in optical microscopy techniques
