Alstom is looking for an Aftermarket Electrical Engineer to apply electrical and electronic knowledge to design, verify, and validate solutions when original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts become obsolete. What You'll Do
- Develop obsolescence solutions, including reverse engineering, repair, new design, supplier partnerships, and make-to-print processes to meet form, fit, and function specifications.
- Ensure all parts proposals meet customer specifications for form, fit, function, reliability, and adherence to industrial norms and standards.
- Create electrical and interface schematics, drawings, and documentation for assigned systems, meeting deliverable schedules.
- Prepare procurement specifications and technical requirements derived from customer specifications to guide the design of requested parts.
- Gain a thorough understanding of project specifications related to Automated People Mover design tasks.
- Coordinate and lead efforts with vendors to confirm compliance with customer requirements while interfacing with both the end customer and vendors.
- Maintain knowledge of electrical and electronic norms and standards relevant to automated people movers, such as IEEE and ANSI.
- Provide drawings, bills of materials, detailed work scopes, assembly instructions, and testing protocols for parts, equipment, and printed circuit boards.
- Deliver customer technical support as required.
- Participate in the ALSTOM Change Control Board (CCB) to ensure all changes are effectively managed.
- Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams, including Customers, Rolling Stock Engineering, Project Management, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, Auditors, Quality Assurance, and Validation and Testing teams.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 5 years of design and field support experience in the vehicles or transportation industry.
- Experience in preparing procurement specifications and technical requirements from customer specifications to drive part design.
- Understanding of the engineering design change process, basic design for manufacturing, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Must be versatile, very autonomous, with hands-on experience, comfortable working in a fast-paced and sometimes unclear environment, and resourceful in finding information through multiple forms of communication.
Nice to Have
- Experience in automated people movers or rail industry standards and design.
- Experience with similar industry products such as transportation vehicles, high-low voltage equipment, and discrete electronic components.
- Automated People Mover experience.
Team & Environment
You will join Services Engineering, a key function of Services NAM (Americas), which provides engineering expertise and technical solutions to various Business Units. The team consists of 230 professionals located across 17 different sites on the continent.
Work Mode
This is an onsite position located in West Mifflin, US.
