About the Role

Keysight Technologies is looking for an Advanced Electronics Hardware Engineer to join our team in Germany. You will support our photonics R&D activities, contributing to the development of next-generation photonic test and measurement instruments. This role offers the opportunity to work in a highly motivated team on challenging, industry-first solutions.

What You'll Do

  • Design electronic hardware, boards, and FPGAs.
  • Test and validate prototypes for photonic test and measurement instruments.
  • Test and analyze data from individual components, assemblies, and full instruments.
  • Contribute to defining and implementing calibration routines.
  • Write, debug, and test software for hardware validation.
  • Participate in meetings to present and discuss technical results.

What We're Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree plus 4 years of work experience or a Master’s degree plus 2 years in electrical engineering, electronic engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in precision analog hardware design.
  • Proven experience in digital hardware design including FPGAs.
  • Hands-on experience programming and simulating Verilog or VHDL FPGA designs.
  • Experience with circuit analysis, CAD schematic tools, circuit simulation, and design evaluation.
  • A good understanding of software development with C# (or C/C++) and .NET, and version control with Git.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills and good communication and presentation abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi-site, multi-cultural global team.
  • Very good written and verbal English communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • A PhD plus 2 years of work experience in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of optical components and photonic systems.
  • Hands-on experience with fiber-optic equipment.
  • Experience developing software for hardware control, low-level firmware, or Linux.
  • Programming skills for data analysis, such as Python or Matlab.
  • German language skills.
