Leman Academy of Excellence Inc is seeking a dedicated 5th Grade Teacher to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for instructing scholars using the classical model of learning combined with data-driven decision-making, creating a rigorous and supportive educational environment.
What You'll Do
- Establish and enforce rules and procedures for responsible behavior, maintaining order among scholars.
- Observe and evaluate scholars' academic performance, behavior, and social development.
- Prepare materials and instructional resources for use in the classroom based on the classical model.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet scholars' varying needs and interests.
- Plan and conduct scholar activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, questions, and work time.
- Instruct scholars using whole class, small groups, and individual techniques, including EEI, Direct Instruction, and Socratic Teaching.
- Collaborate with the Special Education Instructor and implement strategies for special needs scholars.
- Prepare and develop curriculum maps under the guidance of Administration.
- Establish clear objectives for all lessons, assign and grade work, and maintain scholar data books.
- Prepare, administer, and analyze common unit and formative assessments.
- Confer with parents/guardians, teachers, and administrators regarding scholar progress and challenges.
- Maintain accurate and complete scholar records as required.
- Prepare and implement interventions for scholars requiring extra help.
- Collaborate with grade-level faculty to plan and schedule lessons.
- Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment to supplement presentations.
- Attend professional development meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- Plan and supervise class projects, field trips, and guest speaker visits.
- Administer standardized tests and interpret results.
- Supervise teacher assistants and volunteers.
- Perform duties such as hall monitoring and supervision of drop-off/pick-up.
- Sponsor extracurricular activities such as clubs and academic contests.
- Maintain confidentiality per FERPA.
What We're Looking For
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and passing scores on the appropriate Colorado Educator Proficiency Assessments or a Colorado or other state Teaching Certificate.
- Valid DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
- First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Ability to manage conflict resolution with an attitude of humility and service.
- Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, and vendors.
- Ability to operate office equipment such as fax machine, copier, and computer.
- Ability to lift boxes and packages of varying weights and move them to other locations.
Nice to Have
- Preference for applicants who hold a Colorado Teaching Certificate.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Classical curricula and learning.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Charlotte Mason’s educational philosophy and methodology.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Colorado State Standards.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the math and ELA curriculum at Leman Academy.
- Working knowledge and understanding of the Data-Driven Instruction model.
- Proven leadership ability promoting collaborative decision-making.
- Strong commitment to supporting and safeguarding the principles of excellence in classical education.
- Working knowledge of pedagogy, instructional methodology, and curriculum development.
- Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety.
Team & Environment
You will be directly responsible to the Principal and will work closely with the Professional Development team.

- Salary: $61,328.62 - $84,429.21 annually.

This is an onsite position located at the Bayou Gulch Campus.
