The Caterpillar Lab fosters greater appreciation and care for the complexity and beauty of our local natural history through live caterpillar educational programs, research initiatives, and photography and film projects. We believe that an increased awareness of one’s local environment is the foundation on which healthy and responsible attitudes towards the broader natural systems of this world are built.
Since 2015, The Caterpillar Lab has reached over 16,000 people through programs at museums, schools, and botanical gardens. They collaborate with academic institutions and organizations like Mass Audubon to expand outreach and education.
The organization aims to inspire deeper appreciation for local green spaces and is expanding its online presence, educational resources, and potential traveling exhibits. Their vision includes a dynamic facility for education, collaboration, and nature-based art.
