Sedgwick is hiring a Workers’ Compensation Claims Program Manager, Pooling

Role Overview

Oversee the design and execution of pooled self-insured workers’ compensation programs with a focus on compliance, performance, and financial accountability. This position serves as a primary point of contact for pool members in Sacramento, CA, providing expert guidance on claims management, regulatory changes, and vendor coordination.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor high-severity and complex claims through on-site visits, digital reviews, and detailed reporting to ensure appropriate handling and outcomes
  • Lead the evaluation and selection of third-party administrators by managing the RFP process in alignment with client program needs
  • Ensure adherence to contractual obligations, technical standards, and federal and state regulatory requirements across all program activities
  • Manage excess claims programs, including reserve accuracy, payment tracking, compliance, and settlement oversight
  • Review vendor performance, resolve service issues, and coordinate transitions when necessary to maintain program integrity
  • Develop educational resources and deliver training tailored to the oversight responsibilities of pool members and staff
  • Analyze legislative updates and advise clients on the implications for their workers’ compensation programs
  • Present findings and strategic recommendations at board meetings, industry events, and member forums

Qualifications

Seven to nine years of relevant experience in workers’ compensation, risk management, or insurance administration is required. Candidates must demonstrate strong analytical, communication, and negotiation abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is essential for report creation, data analysis, and presentation development.

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is preferred, as are professional certifications relevant to insurance or risk management. Candidates must be able to work effectively in team settings and produce clear, comprehensive written documentation.
