Weekday is hiring a WordPress Systems Engineer focused on ensuring the stability, performance, security, and reliability of high-impact digital platforms. You will take ownership of uptime and performance while bridging traditional CMS systems with modern front-end technologies.
What You'll Do
- Maintain, optimize, and enhance WordPress-based platforms to ensure consistent performance, scalability, and reliability.
- Manage and fine-tune WordPress themes, plugins, integrations, and backend processes to support smooth publishing and site operations.
- Work with React.js components integrated into WordPress, supporting front-end features and resolving related issues.
- Monitor server health, uptime, and load, proactively identifying and resolving potential performance or stability risks.
- Implement performance optimizations using Cloudflare, including caching strategies, DNS management, and security configurations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly to minimize downtime and maintain a seamless user experience.
- Ensure robust security practices, including backups, updates, and vulnerability management across servers and applications.
- Collaborate with content, SEO, and product teams to support workflows, site enhancements, and technical improvements.
- Be available to respond to critical incidents or emergencies outside standard working hours when required.
What We're Looking For
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience with WordPress, including deep knowledge of theme customization, plugin management, and performance optimization.
- Practical experience working with React.js, particularly in environments where React components are integrated with WordPress.
- Strong expertise in Cloudflare, covering caching, DNS, performance tuning, and security configurations.
- Proven experience in server and hosting environment management, with a solid understanding of uptime and scalability requirements.
- Good command of front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and how they interact with WordPress and React-based systems.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose issues under pressure and deliver timely resolutions.
- A proactive, ownership-driven mindset with attention to performance, reliability, and security.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, Git-based version control, performance monitoring tools, or experience supporting high-traffic digital or media platforms.
