charity: water is hiring a Water Programs Manager (Remote)

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the multi-year grant lifecycle for a portfolio of global implementation partners, including soliciting and reviewing grant proposals, approving progress reports, monitoring implementation milestones, and managing project timelines.
  • Manage program performance against a defined framework by setting expectations, tracking progress against agreed objectives and indicators, reviewing progress reports, and conducting field visits to inform grant and program decisions.
  • Optimize partner program implementation by incorporating monitoring and evaluation findings and sharing effective water, sanitation, and hygiene strategies and innovations with partners as relevant.
  • Regularly identify opportunities to strengthen technical and operational areas related to program implementation, which may include managing external technical consultants as needed.
  • Build and maintain strong partner relationships characterized by trust, candor, mutual accountability, and a shared commitment to quality, navigating difficult conversations across cultures and languages when necessary.
  • Support the execution of portfolio or department goals and special initiatives as needed.
  • Drive ongoing improvements internally (systems, processes, and ways of working) and externally (quality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of partners' work) to strengthen systems that increase efficiency, transparency, and impact over time.
  • Support the team's transition to artificial intelligence by piloting and adopting AI tools that increase efficiency, consistency, and quality of partnerships with appropriate human judgment and oversight.
  • Support the identification, vetting, and onboarding of new global water, sanitation, and hygiene partnerships as needed.
  • Collaborate across the organization with each department to maximize and streamline their involvement in water programs.
  • Work closely with the Associate Director of Program Partnerships and other leadership team members to establish long-term partnership plans that incorporate lessons from monitoring efforts and monitoring and evaluation data for managed partnerships.
  • Manage a Water Programs Associate or coordinate closely with other Associates on the team, guiding them to succeed in their administrative roles and mentoring their growth.
  • Manage various consultants hired for programmatic evaluations or technical initiatives and support the interpretation and integration of findings into partnership strategies.
  • Manage requests for information and impact stories from across the organization to share with the organization and the broader community.
  • Provide program-specific content for customized donor reports and presentations and engage with donor audiences as needed.
  • Spend up to 20% of time traveling to the field.
