About the Role
The VistA Architect will design, implement, and maintain enterprise-level VistA systems, ensuring alignment with technical standards and operational requirements in a remote setting.
Responsibilities
- Lead the architecture and design of VistA-based healthcare systems
- Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure system reliability
- Define technical standards and best practices for VistA implementations
- Support integration between VistA and external health information systems
- Ensure compliance with federal and healthcare regulatory requirements
- Evaluate system performance and recommend optimization strategies
- Provide technical guidance during system upgrades and migrations
- Document system architecture and data flow diagrams
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues across environments
- Participate in security assessments and risk mitigation planning
- Guide configuration management and version control processes
- Assist in defining infrastructure requirements for VistA deployments
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity planning
- Work with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of VistA platform developments
- Ensure interoperability with HL7 and other healthcare data standards
- Review code and system designs for adherence to architectural principles
- Facilitate knowledge transfer to technical teams and support staff
- Monitor emerging technologies for potential integration with VistA
- Contribute to project planning and timeline estimations
- Ensure scalability and performance of VistA environments
- Collaborate on testing strategies for system changes
- Support audit readiness and documentation requirements
- Promote secure coding and system design practices
