Lucid Games is hiring a Vehicle Artist (Mid/Senior/Principal)

About the Role

The artist will be responsible for building detailed vehicle assets from concept to completion, maintaining artistic consistency and optimizing for real-time rendering within the game engine.

Responsibilities

  • Create realistic 3D vehicle models using industry-standard software
  • Develop high-resolution textures and materials for vehicle surfaces
  • Collaborate with concept artists to translate designs into 3D assets
  • Optimize models for performance without sacrificing visual quality
  • Ensure vehicles meet technical constraints of the target platforms
  • Work closely with rigging and animation teams for functional parts
  • Maintain consistency with the game's art direction and style
  • Implement assets into the game engine using proper workflows
  • Address feedback from art leads and technical directors
  • Participate in regular reviews and critiques of work in progress
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to vehicle geometry
  • Follow asset naming and organization standards
  • Adapt designs based on gameplay requirements
  • Contribute to the creation of vehicle variants and customization options
  • Assist in developing shaders and material libraries for vehicles
  • Support quality assurance by fixing visual bugs
  • Stay current with industry tools and techniques
  • Mentor junior artists when applicable
  • Meet production deadlines while maintaining high standards
  • Collaborate across disciplines to ensure cohesive integration

Nice to Have

  • Experience working on vehicle-heavy game titles
  • Background in automotive or industrial design
  • Shipped multiple AAA games in an art role
  • Experience mentoring artists
  • Knowledge of vehicle rigging and animation systems
  • Familiarity with photogrammetry workflows
  • Experience with procedural texturing techniques
  • Understanding of vehicle damage modeling
  • Previous work on open-world environments
  • Experience with dynamic material systems
