Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day technical support to internal software engineering teams on cloud infrastructure and platform-related issues
- Serve as the first line of technical support, escalating complex infrastructure issues when appropriate
- Troubleshoot deployment, networking, infrastructure, and CI/CD challenges
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term solutions to recurring problems
- Identify opportunities to automate manual operational tasks and improve engineering workflows
- Build, maintain, and improve Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Develop automation and tooling using Python and Bash
- Design, deploy, and maintain scalable AWS cloud infrastructure
- Collaborate closely with software engineers to understand platform needs and translate them into technical solutions
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and architectural improvements
- Contribute to improving platform reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence
- Mentor other engineers and promote engineering best practices (L4)
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer, Site Reliability Engineer, Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer, or similar role (L4 candidates typically have 7+ years)
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, networking, IAM, and core infrastructure services
- Experience writing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform
- Strong scripting skills using Python and Bash
- Experience supporting Linux-based environments
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience debugging infrastructure, deployment, and networking issues with strong root cause analysis skills
- Experience supporting cloud-native applications and containerized workloads
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and observability tools
- Ability to gather requirements and communicate effectively with software engineers and non-infrastructure stakeholders
- Strong troubleshooting mindset with a customer-first approach
- Comfortable working collaboratively across engineering teams
- Ability to work Central or Eastern US business hours
- Reliable internet connection, webcam, and microphone for remote collaboration
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting internal developer platforms or Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) environments
- Experience with Kubernetes (EKS), ECS, Docker, and container orchestration
- Experience with Jenkins, GitHub, CodeDeploy, or similar CI/CD tooling
- Experience with observability platforms such as DataDog, OpenTelemetry, ELK Stack, New Relic, or Sentry
- Experience with AWS services including Lambda, Aurora, DynamoDB, SQS, SNS, Kinesis, CloudFront, or CloudFormation
- Experience with cloud networking, routing, and VLANs
- Experience with Azure or Google Cloud Platform
- Experience administering Windows Servers, Active Directory, or ASP.NET deployments
- Software development experience in any programming language
- Experience mentoring junior engineers (particularly for L4 candidates)
