Ashby is hiring a Value Consultant

Responsibilities

  • Own and evolve Ashby's impact assessment process — improve tools, refine methodology, ensure assessments are compelling, credible, and customer-specific
  • Define Ashby's value selling motion — build frameworks, templates, and messaging used by SEs across the sales funnel
  • Lead executive-level value conversations on strategic deals — present business cases to decision-makers
  • Enable SE and CSM teams — run training, create resources, act as internal subject matter expert on value consulting
  • Partner with Customer Success on value realization — connect expected outcomes to actual results post-go-live
  • Test and refine value messaging on larger deals — use strategic opportunities to sharpen how Ashby talks about impact

Requirements

  • 5+ years of dedicated value consulting or value engineering experience in SaaS
  • Proven ability to operate with significant autonomy without a predefined playbook
  • Strong builder mindset — ability to create structure where none exists
  • Outcome-focused thinking — ability to identify, quantify, and communicate business impact
  • Exceptional communication skills — ability to read the room, ask precise questions, and simplify complex concepts
  • Executive presence — comfortable and energized by executive-level conversations
  • Genuine empathy for Talent Acquisition teams — understand their pressures, data needs, and key outcomes
  • Strong cross-functional partnership skills — ability to work with SEs, CSMs, and product teams

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience as a Solutions Engineer or management consultant
  • Familiarity with HR tech or Applicant Tracking Systems
  • Experience building or improving impact assessment tooling and processes from scratch
  • Track record of tying value consulting work to measurable revenue or retention outcomes

Benefits

  • Time to do things the right way — emphasis on high-quality work, no quick hacks
  • Sell a product customers are truly excited about
  • Generous equipment, software, and office furniture budget
  • 10-year exercise window for stock options
  • $100/month education budget, with manager approval for more expensive items like conferences

Team

Structure: You will sit within the Solutions Engineering team and be the first dedicated Value Consultant. You will work closely with SEs, CSMs, and occasionally the product org.

Additional Information

  • Work split is roughly 80/20 between pre-sales and post-sales
  • Expected to participate in executive conversations and represent value consulting visibly
  • Role involves change management to get SEs and CSMs to adopt new value selling motion
  • Post-sales component is real and important — closing the loop on promised value
  • Fast-moving, ambiguous environment — must thrive in uncertainty
