As a UX/UI Designer for desk phones, you will lead the full lifecycle of user experience design for embedded communication devices. Your work will focus on creating clear, efficient interfaces that operate within the limitations of physical inputs and small displays, ensuring users can perform essential telephony tasks reliably and intuitively.
What You'll Do
- Lead end-to-end UX design for desk phones and related hardware, from concept through implementation
- Create interaction models and workflows for calling, conferencing, transfers, voicemail, and call management
- Design within technical constraints such as limited screen space, fixed inputs, and real-time performance needs
- Develop wireframes, user flows, and interaction specifications that emphasize speed, consistency, and minimal cognitive load
- Collaborate closely with firmware engineers to ensure accurate translation of design into functional behavior
- Apply AI tools throughout the design and development process to improve efficiency and maintainability
- Conduct usability testing and refine designs based on real-world user behavior and edge cases
- Align UX strategy with product goals and customer needs in partnership with Product Management
- Ensure compliance with usability standards and regulatory considerations across global markets
- Support consistency across a growing ecosystem of enterprise communication devices
Requirements
- 1–3 years of experience in UX, UI, or product design, with preference for 3 years
- Proven ability to design task-oriented interfaces with a focus on workflow efficiency
- Firm grasp of human-computer interaction principles, including affordances, error prevention, and cognitive load
- Strong communication skills for explaining design decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma or Sketch
- Curiosity about user behavior and motivation to see how design choices impact real-world use
Preferred Qualifications
- Background in telephony, VoIP, or enterprise communication systems
- Experience designing for embedded systems, hardware products, or non-traditional computing platforms
- Familiarity with localization and internationalization requirements
- Exposure to usability testing or field research in enterprise environments
