Barnes & Noble College is hiring an UofMemphis Campus Retail Associate - BNC Starbucks Licensee (Temporary)

Responsibilities

  • Process sales transactions using cash, credit, or financial aid payments.
  • Greet customers and ensure a friendly, positive experience throughout their visit.
  • Support store operations by operating equipment and cash register, focusing on speed and accuracy.
  • Maintain store appearance through shelving, arranging, cleaning, and organizing products and space.
  • Prepare and serve hot and cold food and drinks following prescribed recipes and techniques.
  • Set up or restock displays, and wrap, label, date, and rotate food items for sale.
  • Follow cleaning, sanitation, and operational standards to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Obtain food handling or safety certification if required by location.
  • Work weekly for up to 90 days, including occasional weekends, with flexible scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.
  • Perform routine housekeeping tasks such as dusting, mopping, window cleaning, vacuuming, and trash removal.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years old for temporary employment.
  • Flexible availability throughout the academic year, including peak periods.
  • Basic math, keyboarding, and data entry skills.
  • Positive attitude with willingness to learn and ability to excel in a fast-paced, team environment.
  • Confident and comfortable engaging customers to deliver an elevated experience.

Nice to Have

  • Previous food handling experience preferred.

  • Temporary positions require availability to work on a weekly basis for a period of 90 days or less with occasional weekends, and flexibility in scheduling for opening, midday, or closing shifts.
  • Physical Demands: Frequent movement within the store to access various departments, areas, and/or products. Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods. Frequent lifting. Occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and climbing ladders.
